Consultation for Clinicians
Comorbid medical, psychological, and medical disorders (not to mention hypnotic dependence) can complicate delivery of otherwise straightforward Behavioral Sleep Medicine Interventions. I am prepared to help busy clinicians conceptualize and treat complex and atypical cases. If you are having difficulty making sense of standard manuals or if training you’ve received elsewhere just doesn’t seem to apply to the clients in your practice, I am here to translate key concepts and help you adapt treatments and implement counterintuitive interventions. For clinicians who provide behavioral sleep medicine services, but are not pursuing DBSM credential, I also offer consultation on a more flexible schedule.
Here are the main types of consultation I offer:
Consultation for clinicians pursuing the DBSM credential via the alternate track. Full eligibility criteria available here. Criteria 2-b and 2-b-2 are most relevant to this consultation.
The consultation period is the length of time it takes for you to accrue the required 250 hours of BSM experience, including at least 150 hours of direct patient care.
The frequency of consultation is weekly for those full time in BSM. This can be reduced proportionate to the number of hours per week you spend engaged in BSM, with a minimum frequency of once per month.
Consultation can be individual or in a group of up to 4 clinicians.
Consultation for clinicians who have just completed CBT-I training and wish to have consultation on their first cases.
The consultation period is four months.
The frequency of consultation is weekly.
You must have at least one active CBT-I case.
Consultation can be individual or in a group of up to 4 clinicians.
One-time consultation for tough cases.
The purpose of this consultation is entirely up to you.
There is a one hour minimum.
Stat consults may be available but incur an additional cost.

Consultation for Clinical Studies and Corporations
For 15 years, I have worked at all levels of sleep research including intervention studies. I also have over a decade of clinical experience to draw from. I am prepared to help you design effective and efficient assessment batteries or manualized treatments, consult when problems arise, provide supervision to interventionists, or serve as an independent rater of treatment fidelity. I can also review and provide feedback on clinical materials, articles, reviews, etc. Contact me using this form if you are interested in professional consultation.
